The film, Omkara is set in the 18th century during the reign of the Mughal emperor Shah Alam II. Omkara is a story of love, honor, and redemption for two men who are friends but enemies. A man named 'Raghuvir Singh' (Neil Nitin Mukesh) born in a poor family in a village near the city of Delhi, but later became a wealthy man because he is a trained military soldier. The village is led by his elder brother 'Sanjay Singh' (Ashish Vidyarthi). Raghuvir meets the beautiful 'Rani' (Aishwarya Rai), who is the younger, but beautiful sister of 'Maharaja' (Hrithik Roshan). After many years of being married, they have a child called 'Kajal'. Raghuvir Singh learns that he has some blood cancer. He asks his sons to take care of him. The story starts with Raghuvir Singh, his wife and Kajal then leave for Delhi. Near Delhi, they are attacked by some bandits. The bandits are defeated by Raghuvir Singh single handedly. The Maharaja also defeats the bandits with great difficulty. The villagers now believe that their "Bhairav" (Hrithik Roshan) is a god. At the same time, the eldest son of Raghuvir Singh "Sanjay Singh" (Neil Nitin Mukesh) arrives in Delhi to take his father back to his village. The village has been very poor but Sanjay brings them prosperity and respect. Two years later, Sanjay and his wife take care of Raghuvir and Kajal. Raghuvir and Kajal then start to fall in love with each other. Rani is very angry about this. She wants Sanjay to marry Kajal. The story then focuses on the lives of Sanjay, Raghuvir, Rani, and Kajal. After many years later, Raghuvir's son "Ranvir Singh" (Neil Nitin Mukesh) leaves for Delhi to take his father to his village. Ranvir meets Amrita (Amrita Rao), who is the niece of Ranvir's stepmother (Himani Shivpuri).
